Contestants for May's Hampshire County Council elections published

THE list of candidates challenging for Hampshire County Council seats within Basingstoke and Deane has been published.

People will go to the polls on May 2 where across Hampshire 78 seats in 75 divisions will be contested.

In the borough there are five Basingstoke town seats, as well as posts in Calleva and Kingsclere, Candovers, Loddon, Tadley and Baughurst, and Whitchurch and Clere being contested.

The list of who is standing for each ward is listed below. Names in brackets denote the incumbent member.

Basingstoke Central (Ron Hussey, Liberal Democrats)

Basingstoke North (Jane Frankum, Labour)

Basingstoke North West (Stephen Reid, Conservative)

Basingstoke South East (Brian Gurden, Liberal Democrats)

Basingstoke South West (Rita Burgess, Conservative)

Calleva and Kingsclere (Keith Chapman, Conservative)

Candovers (Anna McNair Scott, Conservative)

Loddon (Elaine Still, Conservative)

Tadley and Baughurst (Marilyn Tucker, Conservative)

Whitchurch and Clere (Tom Thacker, Conservative)
