ATTACKING midfielder Dean Parrett believes he along with Massimo Luongo and Nathan Byrne have a responsibility to help the Swindon Town squad win promotion to the Championship this season.

The trio arrived on loan from Tottenham just minutes before Thursday’s emergency loan deadline, and all made their debuts the following day as Town drew 1-1 at home to Oldham.

Parrett admitted he and his Spurs teammates don’t feel the intensity of the promotion battle just yet, but has seen how much it means to the rest of the Town squad and will be looking to do his best to help them achieve their goal as they face league leaders Doncaster today.

“It’s a bonus to be at a team chasing promotion, because I just needed to get out and play some men’s football really, but the chance to play for a medal is unbelievable,” he said.

“I don’t think we feel it as much as them (the rest of the squad) yet because we have only been in for a couple of days, but we want to help them get where they want to go because they have been working hard for it all season. They deserve it and we are here to help them.

“We are right up there and if we had beaten OIdham we would have been up there more, but if we can go up to Doncaster and get a result you never know we could be champions.”

Parrett was the Robins’ star performer as he regular got on the ball and made things happen against the Latics, but insisted he still has plenty more to offer.

“There is more to come from me, driving with the ball from midfield, and I think I can get much sharper. But my delivery from set-plays was dangerous and I’m happy with that,” he said.

“Training is the place to improve, and after training I stay out and do five from the left, five from the right and five corners from each side as well as shots from in front of the goal, and if I don’t score from the five then I will take an extra one.

“Everyone has been very welcoming to us although we didn’t know everyone’s name at the start of the game, but when you start playing with people you get to know them better.

“We’ve only had one session after driving up at 6am on Thursday, we did 20 minutes and then went to the pool to try and get the travel out of our legs.

“There is more to come from all three of us, that’s for sure.”
