RESIDENTS are being urged to have their say on proposals for York’s biggest housing development as a crunch meeting looms.

A “reserved matters” planning application for 655 new homes on the Germany Beck site in Fulford, covering details such as appearance, layout and size, is to go before City of York Council’s planning committee on April 25.

Fulford councillor Keith Aspden said the meeting had been lined up for April 17, but had now been provisionally rescheduled after he raised concerns that people may not have sufficient time to make representations. He said: “It is vital the views of local residents are listened to and acted on by the council and the developers, as they have concerns over flooding, traffic, air pollution and the fact the area has changed so much since outline planning approval was given more than five years ago.

“The council must take the proper steps to ensure residents have all the information they need and their views are heard. I am pleased that officers have decided to rearrange the meeting and I hope that, going forwards, the council will ensure the consultation process runs smoothly.”
