A PAIR of junior York FA cup finals will be staged at York City’s Bootham Crescent ground.

Minstermen officials have given the green light to the showpiece games on Wednesday, May 1, while the remaining finals will be held at the homes of Tockwith and Wigginton Grasshoppers.

York FA chairman Barry Casterton thanked City – along with the other final hosts and all the cup sponsors – for their “generous support”.

York Cubs will take on Rawcliffe in the final of the York FA Junior Minor (Under-13s) Cup at the Crescent on May 1, kick off 6pm.

The final of the York FA U14s Minor Cup between Heworth Rangers and Rawcliffe Tigers will follow at 7.30pm.

The cup finals kick off on Sunday, April 21 when Poppleton Tigers and York RI go head-to-head for the York FA Acaster Steel (U12s) Cup at Tockwith (11am).

On Monday, May 6, Tockwith stages the York FA U15s Minor Cup, York FA Senior Minor (U16s) Cup and York FA U11s Cup.

Holders Old Malton St Mary’s meet York RI in the final of the York FA Saturday Senior Cup at Tockwith on Saturday, May 4, with the York FA Saturday Junior Cup final between Tadcaster Magnets v Osbaldwick taking place at the same venue the previous week.

The line-ups for the York FA Sunday Morning Senior and Junior Cups, scheduled for Wigginton on Sunday, April 28, have yet to be finalised.

Acomb Celtic will face Hounds or King William in the Senior version, with Bubwith White Swan awaiting the winners of the delayed Tadcaster Magnets v Huntington Rovers tie in the Junior final.

Meanwhile, only three games survived the wintry weather in the Ian’s Cars of Barlby York Sunday Morning Football League.

Second-placed Dunnington were beaten 6-2 at home by bottom of the table Severus in division one.

Dunnington took the lead with a fifth-minute goal from Scott Sullivan. Mark Woodward levelled and Dave Watson then put Severus 2-1 up.

A defensive error allowed Matt Playle to score for the hosts, but Severus were soon back in front when James Edmund hit the target and man-of-the-match Woodward made it 4-2 at half-time.

Severus were reduced to ten men in the second half but added goals from Sam Lingard and Jamie Green.

Wigginton Grasshoppers started with only nine men in their 6-4 defeat by Acomb Celtic, whose scorers were Neil Richardson (2), Ryan Davison, Mike O’Shaunessy and Neil Rankeillor (2).

Jordan Walters (2) and Lee McQuade (2) scored for Wiggy.

Derwent United increased their lead at the top of division two to nine points after beating second place Leeman United 3-0 at home.

Marcus Godsall (2) and Dave Bradshaw netted.
