Wheelchair athlete to give lecture
10:48am Tuesday 19th March 2013 in News
A WHEELCHAIR athlete who has represented Great Britain in triathlons for four years will give a free public lecture on Thursday.
Alan Rayment will speak as part of the York St John Go York series on the academic and sporting challenges he faced after his legs were amputated in 1997 and 1998. Since then, he has hand-cycled from Lands End to John O'Groats, completed the London Marathon and won medals at World, European and national level. The University of York St John awarded him an honorary degree, doctor of health sciences, in 2011.
The lecture in the De Grey lecture theatre, at University St John, will begin at 6.30 and doors open at 5.45pm.
