A NORTH YORKSHIRE pupil has reached the regional finals of a new talent contest.
Singer Beth Stevens, 14, a pupil at Tadcaster Grammar School, wowed judges and pipped thousands of other applicants to a place in the regional finals of TeenStar, a talent competition for teens and pre-teens.
TeenStar is run by Future Music, who previously organised the Open Mic UK competition which launched acts including Jahmene Douglas, Birdy and Lucy Spraggan.
In reaching the next stage of the competition, Beth will perform live to hundreds of people at the Mill Volvo Tyne theatre, in Newcastle, next Saturday.
The winners will go through to the grand final and perform at the O2 Arena in London with the chance to win prizes which include £5,000 to spend on musical development.
Previous judges at the final stage for Open Mic UK have included Radio 1 DJs Ras Kwame and Annie Nightingale.
