Three arrested after shooting in Murton

THREE men have been arrested by police investigating a shooting in a village near York.

A man in his 30s was injured in the arm and abdomen by gunshot pellets in the incident, outside a property in Murton Lane, Murton, on February 20.

North Yorkshire Police said the men, aged 26, 28 and 29, and of no fixed address, were arrested in Doncaster on Wednesday.

All three have been released on conditional police bail, said a force spokeswoman. She said North Yorkshire Police were leading an extensive investigation into the incident, which also involved neighbouring forces.

“Police believe that it was an isolated incident and that the wider community were not at risk,” he said. He said the injured man had been treated at York Hospital after the shooting but left shortly afterwards.
