Man arrested over badger baiting

A MAN from the Selby area has been arrested on suspicion of badger baiting.

The man, of Greenacres, Eggborough, was arrested when police executed a warrant at his home at 7.30am Thursday, and RSPCA officers seized two dogs, a terrier and a fox hound, from the property.

RSPCA chief inspector Justin Le Masurier said: “Badger baiting inflicts terrible suffering on both the badgers and frequently the dogs, which are invariably badly injured and often don’t receive any veterinary treatment for those injuries.

"We hope this sends a strong message to anyone involved in this so called ‘sport’ – we could be knocking on your door next.”

Two other men from Knottingley were also arrested, and six more dogs seized in the raids.
