A 63-YEAR-old woman has died in hospital after collapsing in unexplained circumstances at her home in York.
Denise Tomlinson was in a critical condition following an incident at her home in Burdyke Avenue on February 25.
She passed away on Friday after the decision was made to turn off her life support machine.
North Yorkshire Police are treating her death as unexplained and investigations are continuing.
A 45-year-old man from York arrested in connection with the investigation remains on bail, a police spokesman said.
Mrs Tomlinson’s family said in a statement: “We are devastated by the death of Denise and we are struggling to come to terms with it. She was a truly wonderful and loving person and we will miss her terribly.
“We thank the ambulance crew and medical staff at York Hospital for the care they provided to Denise.
“We also thank the police for the support they have given to the family at this very difficult time. The officers have our full support as they continue to investigate the circumstances of the death.” Mrs Tomlinson moved to York from Winsford, Cheshire, about a year ago to be near to her family.
Following the incident on February 25, police are understood to have guarded the ground floor flat throughout the night.
Neighbours reported hearing a disturbance on a preceding evening.
A police spokesman said: “At this stage her death is being treated as unexplained and the police investigation remains ongoing.”
An inquest into Mrs Tomlinson’s death is expected to be opened by York Coroner’s Court.
