NEW lambs are heralding the start of spring in North Yorkshire – it’s just a shame no one told the weather.

After Tuesday afternoon’s sunshine, forecasters are predicting mostly cloudy weather over the next few days, with rain or drizzle at times.

Maximum temperatures could fall as low as 4C on Sunday, with brisk east or southeast winds making it feel chillier.

But visitors to Askham Bryan College will still have a great chance to see new lambs being born and have a fun day out that day, when it hosts its popular Lambing Day event.

“It’s a great day out, whether you’re seven-years-old or 70,” said John Wray, Section Leader of Agriculture.

The event begins at 10am and runs until 4pm.

Bishop Burton College, near Beverley, will also be holding a similar event n the same day, between 11am and 3pm.
