Sleepout night to raise awareness of youth homelessness

ABOUT 50 people of all ages are planning to highlight the plight of homeless young people in North Yorkshire by sleeping out tonight in Dean’s Gardens, behind York Minster.

York-based charity SASH is hosting the sleepout after experiencing a 90 per cent increase in demand for its services last year.

The sleepout will help raise awareness of youth homelessness in the area, as well as raise funds to support SASH’s work.

The charity prevents young people from becoming homeless by offering them a room in the home of a volunteer.
