Teenager, 17, on stabbing charge

A 17-year-old youth has been remanded in custody accused of stabbing a man with a knife.

The York teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is charged with wounding the alleged victim with intent to cause grievous bodily harm on Wednesday.

He is also charged with carrying a knife in public and assaulting a second man. His solicitor, Nick Darwin, did not apply for bail at the brief hearing before York magistrates, who remanded him in secure accommodation.

The case was adjourned until tomorrow when the teenager will appear before York Youth Court.
