THE family of a young man who drowned in a York river have marked the third anniversary of his death by raising at least £300 for his favourite charity.

Joanne Wigmore, mother of Jonathan Havron, said a stall organised at the Murton car boot sale yesterday morning was very well-received by the public.

She said their fundraising was boosted after the British Heart Foundation gave them special BHF T-shirts to wear and balloons to raise their profile.

Unsold items were later donated to the charity’s shop in York to sell in coming days and weeks.

Jonathan, 18, of Huntington, who worked as a volunteer for the charity, went missing at the end of a night out in York city centre on February 27, 2010.

A massive hunt was launched, but his body was found in the River Foss a fortnight later.
