Major delays on East Coast Mainline
8:24pm Sunday 24th February 2013 in News
UPDATED 10pm: The line has now reopened at Northallerton, but delays should be expected for the rest of the night.
ALL East Coast Mainline services are delayed by up to 90 minutes tonight, following a fatal collision on the tracks.
A train was in collision with a pedestrian on the track close to Northallerton at about 7.30pm.
The incident has also affected Grand Central Trains services between York and Sunderland, CrossCountry, and First Transpennine Express services.
A National Rail spokesman said the delays were likely to be in place until at least 10pm.
In the meantime, CrossCountry, East Coast and First Transpennine Express ticketholders may use each others services.
