TWO teenagers have appeared before Leeds Crown Court accused of murdering a 50-year-old Acomb man last month.

Liam Wyard, 19, of no fixed address, and a 16-year-old from Acomb, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, are alleged to have attacked Keith Wright in Acomb Road, near Fairfax Court, on January 21.

They were originally charged with grievous bodily harm with intent as Mr Wright lay in a coma at Leeds General Infirmary. At a hearing before York Crown Court, the Recorder of York, Judge Stephen Ashurst, set a provisional trial date for June 17 at York Crown Court.

But after Mr Wright died on January 31, the teenagers were charged with murder, and York magistrates sent them to Leeds to be tried. Judge Peter Collier QC remanded both teenagers in custody until May 1.
