WANNABE witches, smugglers and Vikings attended auditions in York at the weekend in search of a new job at York Dungeon.

The dungeons, which were devastated in the September floods, have been given a £2 million overhaul and will re-open on March 29.

Ahead of the re-opening, local actors were given the chance to audition for starring roles at the attraction by performing a five-minute ghost story and a two-minute funny story about themselves.

Helen Douglas, general manager at York Dungeon, said: “It’s been tough to come back from the floods, but we are coming back.

“Our £2m rebuild will bring a new lease of life to our attraction and some of the talent already registered for the auditions fills me with confidence that the Dungeon is going to be a showstopper. The judging process is going to be tough but I’m confident we’ll find our stars.”

Nothing more puts me off going to places like this than a bunch of students, in make-up and fancy dress acting the idiot. I find them really annoying and embarrassing.

Signed.
Mr Grump.

Just when you were expecting a quiet afternoon absorbing the gentle atmosphere of plagues, screaming, executions, murder, witches, ghouls, and bloodbathing horror - an effing student, dressed up in a Dick Turpin outfit jumps out and spoils it all.

Shucks!
