ALTHOUGH not at the wheel of an Aston Martin, James Bond fans will still be able to replicate their hero’s journey to Scotland in style.

A train decorated in honour of the biggest film in British cinematic history travelled to York at the weekend.

Eleven carriages of the East Coast train have been wrapped in artwork from the James Bond film Skyfall, with the newly decorated train making its maiden journey to Scotland from London via York, transporting international journalists from around the world.

The train was unveilied at the renamed for the occasion platform 007 at King’s Cross Station on Saturday.

Paul Williams, media and communications manager for East Coast, said: “To mark its unprecedented success at the UK box office, Skyfall has become the first film to lend its name to a train in the UK”.

Anything is better than that dreadful weak purple line on silver.

As it looks like DOR is going to continue running East Coast for at least the next five years, can we have a livery design strategy please? EC runs trains in GNER, NXEC, East Midlands and its own livery - or any combination - and it looks an absolute mess. The thing about any coordinated service (especially one for which the general public forks out a fortune) is that it should LOOK coordinated. In East Coast's instance, that baby went out with the bathwater some time ago.
