Former police station in Harrogate for sale
10:25am Friday 15th February 2013 in News
THE site of a former police station in a North Yorkshire town has been put up for sale with a £1.9 million price tag.
Harrogate Borough Council originally intended to move into North Yorkshire Police’s former base on Great North Road, but this was abandoned after the building was given listed status by English Heritage.
The authority’s £12.4 million plans to sell its historic Crescent Gardens HQ so it could become a boutique hotel, along with four other council builders, was widely opposed and the council is now trying to find alternative premises but has not earmarked any sites so far.
The police station will be sold at public auction on February 26 at an event at Leeds United FC’s Elland Road ground, with Pugh And Company handling the sale in association with The Auction People, based at Newton-le-Willows.
The guide price is £1.9 million and includes the two-storey police building and extensions, landscaped grounds, car parking and a detached three-bedroom building which was formerly a house.
