MUSIC fans and pub-goers in York are being asked to wind back the clock 25 years to help to solve a video mystery.

Steve Bradley, landlord of The Fulford Arms pub in York, is trying to track down the cameraman or woman who filmed a performance by the band DV & The Clients at The Winning Post pub in Bishopthorpe Road in 1988.

Steve said: “The reason it is important is because the singer, Bob De Vries, who died in 2005, was the singer in York punk band Cyanide, and was arguably York’s first ‘rock star’.

“The band on the video includes Mick Sollitt (now in Huge) and Kev Harton (now in The Supermodels) and in the crowd are a number of recognisable York faces.

“What is causing a debate among people on the film and who were at the gig is that nobody can remember who actually filmed it.”

Steve said he had passed the video to The Yorkshire Film Archive and hoped that, if the person who shot the film could be found, more footage may also come to light.

• If you remember the gig or can help to solve the mystery, email gavin.aitchison@thepress.co.uk or phone 01904 567131.

Great film ... I'd love to see more like this. I went to the Winning Post now and again in 89/90 and recognise some faces - can anyone put any names to them? Hope the filmmaker is found.

Bob De Vries remember him well. Not the greatest singer in the world and fancied himself a bit. The only punk rocker I ever saw in flared trousers.

Bob sang the B side "Ello Den Gott'a New Striker?" on the York City FC "Here We Go" single in their promotion season with Dennis Smith at the helm...

Just a small Correction to the report, Mike Sollitt and Kev Harton can be found together playing for the Superb Supermodels. An awesome band who knock spots off any other I have seen around York. In My Opinion.

That's an addition, not a correction. Mick Sollitt is in Huge. Fact!
