Former York schoolgirl Charlotte Kitchman scoops role in BBC's Call the Midwife drama

A FORMER York schoolgirl has scooped a role in top television drama Call the Midwife.

Charlotte Kitchman, who goes by the stage name Charlotte Victoria, is a former Bootham School pupil and is set to feature in the BBC’s hit drama next Sunday.

After leaving school in 2008, Charlotte, now 22, relocated to London and went on to study performance and acting.

She won a scholarship to the Central School of Speech and Drama where she gained her MA. She will take the part of Miriam Pritchard in Call the Midwife and appears for one episode.

A spokeswoman for the school said while she was there from 2001-8 she was a star in many school performances and loved acting and dancing.

Simon Benson, head of drama at the private school, said: “We are really pleased for Charlotte, and hope this will be the start of many more opportunities to come.”

Call the Midwife is a BBC period drama series starring Jessica Raine, Miranda Hart, Jenny Agutter, Pam Ferris and Vanessa Redgrave. It is based on the memoirs of midwife Jennifer Worth and set in east London in the 1950s.

The show is currently on TV in its second series and Charlotte will appear in episode five at 8pm on February 17.
