9:19am Tuesday 5th February 2013 in News
ALADDIN And The Twankeys will be the York Theatre Royal pantomime for the 2013-2014 winter season.
Dame Berwick Kaler announced the show title from the stage on the last night of Robin Hood And His Merry Mam! last Saturday, when ticket sales for the 70 performance season again passed the 50,000 mark.
This will be the fifth time that Berwick, dame, writer and co-director, has appeared in Aladdin in his 35 pantomime years in York, following on from The Lad Aladdin in 2005 and previous productions in 1997, 1989 and 1981.
Tickets go on sale on March 1 and can be bought in person from the St Leonard’s Place box office from 9am that day and on the phone on 01904 623568 and online at yorktheatreroyal.co.uk from 9am on March 2.

ALADDIN. "Hey Uncle Abanazer. My feet are killing me. How far have we walked?"
ABANAZER "About thirteen miles my boy."
ALADDIN. "Thirteen! That's an unlucky number."
ABANAZER. "Oh very well! Fourteen miles!
ALADDIN (to audience). There, I said it was unlucky. Now we've walked another mile......."!
