A YORK lawyer has been selected as the Liberal Democrat candidate to fight the York Outer seat at the next General Election.

Nick Emmerson, who was born and brought up in North Yorkshire and has lived in York for nine years, is a partner in an international law firm and has lived and worked in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Tokyo.

The current MP for York Outer is Julian Sturdy, of the Conservatives, who won the newly-created seat in 2010.

β€œIt’s an honour to be selected and I am really looking forward to getting out on the campaign trail and meeting residents and businesses,” Mr Emmerson said.
