British Yorkshire Pudding day at Rievaulx Abbey

British Yorkshire Pudding day at Rievaulx Abbey British Yorkshire Pudding day at Rievaulx Abbey

Karen Pinchom and Belinda Heighway, of English Heritage, with a sample of the treats visitors to the tearooms at Rievaulx Abbey, near Helmsley, can look forward to tomorrow, which is British Yorkshire Pudding day.

Visitors will be able to choose between a full English breakfast in a Yorkshire pudding, or a more traditional pud filled with roast beef and gravy or vegetarian sausages.

Those with a sweet tooth can enjoy a pudding with jam and cream in place of a more traditional scone.

Site manager Belinda said: “Both Rievaulx Abbey and the Yorkshire Pudding are synonymous with Yorkshire, so we’re thrilled to be celebrating British Yorkshire Pudding Day.”

The abbey is open from 10am to 4pm every weekend throughout the winter.

I remember laughing at Fanny and Johnnie Cradock, tv cooks of yesteryear, when Johnnie announced with gusto that if the viewer followed the recipe to the letter then the Yorkshire Puddings will all turn out looking like Fanny's.

It still cracks me up. LOL.

“British Yorkshire pudding day”? This must mean that, either some other country holds a “Yorkshire pudding day” or some other country makes Yorkshire puddings or, heaven forbid, there’s another Yorkshire somewhere!
