A CYCLIST is believed to have indecently assaulted a student before exposing himself to another at the University of York.
A 22-year-old woman, was walking alone along the cycle path between Wentworth Way and University Road at around 7.15pm on Sunday when she noticed a man on a white mountain bike ahead of her. As she passed the man he touched her inappropriately before cycling into the Wentworth College campus, police said.
At 7.30pm, the same man is believed to have approached a 20-year-old woman walking near Vanburgh College and pulled his trousers down and exposed himself to her.
Officers have released CCTV images of the suspect and are urging anyone who can identify him to come forward.
The suspect is described as white, aged between 16 and 19-years-old with a short, skinny build and thick, blonde curly hair.
He was wearing a grey hooded-top, with the hood up, dark jeans and dark trainers with a thick white sole.
PC Hannah Dearden, of York police, said: “Both women have been left shocked and frightened by these incidents and I am appealing to the public to help us trace the man responsible.
“If you recognise the suspect from the images or know anyone matching his description, please contact the police or Crimestoppers as soon as possible. “I would also like to hear from anyone who has been approached in similar circumstances.”
Anyone with information that can help officers with their enquiries is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
