City of York Council reception areas on the move

RECEPTION areas for council services in York are to temporarily move, ahead of the city’s new council headquarters opening in March.

The reception point for parking services at City of York Council’s St Leonard’s Place offices will close on Monday morning and reopen at midday that day at the customer services area in Library Square.

The main St Leonard’s Place reception will close at 2pm on Thursday and reopen the following day in the Brierley Room at York Explore. This covers services including planning, waste and recycling, concessionary travel, highways, licensing and education.

Coun Julie Gunnell, cabinet member for corporate services, said the switch was needed as council staff will be leaving St Leonard’s Place to make the move to the new West Offices HQ over the next two months and removal vans will make customer access difficult.

Residents with urgent queries or service requests during the short reception closure periods on Monday and Thursday should phone the council on 01904 551550.

Has anyone thought of a name for the new building yet ?

I rather think of it as a travel agency for over confident egotistical councilors
