Your chance to quiz York's council leader on city's budget

City of York Council leader James Alexander, who will be taking part in a live online Q&A with The Press about the authority's budget
YORK’S council leader is going online with The Press to give residents the chance to ask questions about a £21 million challenge facing the city.
City of York Council will outline its budget for the next two years at the end of February. The authority is experiencing 30% funding reduction from central government, meaning it must save £9 million in 2013/14 and an expected £12 million the next year.
Council leader James Alexander will take part in a live online discussion on The Press website next Tuesday between 3pm and 4pm, answering questions about the budget. You can follow the discussion at thepress.co.uk.
Coun Alexander said the council faced “the most difficult financial challenge in a generation”, and said: “I’m pleased to be taking part in this live online question-and-answer session with residents and readers of The Press.
“I would like anybody with questions on the budget process and the challenges and opportunities we face in delivering the budget to get involved. I hope it will be the first of many.”
