SNOW is still affecting parts of North Yorkshire and causing problems on the region’s roads.
The van pictured fell foul of snowy conditions on the A169 near Pickering, as temperatures struggled to rise above freezing again yesterday.
While York has escaped heavy snowfall, the village of Lockton, on the North York Moors, saw plenty of snow with residents forced to dig their way out of their homes.
It was not all bad news, however. A team of fundraisers from Harrogate have built an igloo on the town’s Stray, which they plan to auction to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
The igloo is described as a smartly appointed ground floor stand-alone studio apartment. It also comes with its own snowman.
Bidding for the icy dwelling closes at 8pm tonight. To make a bid, visit ebay.co.uk and search for igloo Harrogate or to make a donation visit justgiving.com/iglooforsale
Bids have so far reached more than £500, though the successful buyer may need to make the most of their purchase in the coming days.
Forecasters say the snow flurries will die out by the weekend and give way to damper, milder weather.
