COUPLES happy to shun superstition when setting their wedding date are being given the chance to hire one of York’s top venues – at a cut-price rate.
Despite wedding bookings for many weekends filling up, the Hospitium in the Museum Gardens has four noticeably empty dates – Friday the 13th in September and December, and Saturday the 13th in April and July.
York Museums Trust, which runs the medieval venue, is offering couples a discounted price of £1,313.13 for these dates – compared with the normal September and December Friday prices of £2,300 and £1,800 respectively, and the £2,800 April and July Saturday rate.
Weddings supervisor Jennifer Cork said: “Getting married on Friday the 13th is a bit much for some people, but it seems Saturday the 13th is proving the same.
“However, there are many non-superstitious people who may not believe in that sort of thing.”
