THREE people living in a York residential home for elderly people were evacuated after a fire started in its laundry room.
The fire started due to an electrical fault in a tumble dryer in Broadway Lodge in Fulford, causing thick smoke to billow through a section of the property. The three residents of the wing were taken to safety by staff, a member of staff said.
Firefighters were called to Broadway Lodge at 10.10pm on Friday, a fire service spokesman said.
The fire did not cause any significant damage.
