A NEW board of trustees who will lead a York organisation which supports and promotes family life has been unveiled.

The Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, was among those who attended a service at York Minster for the board of the Diocese of York Mothers’ Union, and he preached to about 150 people.

The commissioning service saw Olwyn Cooke formally take on the role of diocesan president.

The union’s members look to develop “prayer and spiritual growth” in families, study family life and its place in society.

They also aim to improve life for families, both in their own area and nationally.
