THE newly appointed chairman of York Civic Trust, Peter Addyman, has outlined his priorities for his next three years in charge.
Mr Addyman, who helped create the Jorvik Viking Centre, said he would continue to “seek to explain the importance of York’s heritage, both above and below ground”.
The trust will also reinstate a City Enhancement Fund to help make improvements to the city, that will continue to attract the millions of visitors who come to York each year.
The enhancement of Duncombe Place and the redecoration of the city walls’ coats of arms will be the trust’s priority working in partnership with the Reinvigorating York initiative.
Peter Brown, director of the Civic Trust, said: “Peter Addyman brings a wealth of experience and possesses a huge body of knowledge about York which will be an invaluable resource for the Trust.”
Other priorities for the new chairman include strengthening the trust’s education work and carrying out research valuable to the city now and in the future.
