Drivers warned ahead of cold snap
7:45am Saturday 12th January 2013 in News
With snow and icy weather forecasted to take hold this weekend, North Yorkshire Police are advising drivers to keep safe.
The cold snap is predicted to last about two weeks so drivers are urged to be prepared.
Insp Vicky Taylor said: “If your route is affected by snow or ice, the first thing you need to consider is whether or not your journey is actually necessary.
"If you have no choice and have to travel in wintry weather, it is vital to give yourself more time, take extra care and adjust your driving to the conditions.
"This could be lowering your speed, increasing braking distances and making sure lights are on even during the day. It is also vital to ensure your vehicle is well maintained and prepared for the conditions.”

I must remember to give them all a cheery wave as I cycle past the inevitable gridlock that a couple of snowflakes creates.

I'm not quite sure you belong in York's community.

Tongue-in-cheek is a phrase used as a figure of speech to imply that a statement or other production is humorously or otherwise not seriously intended and it should not be taken at face value.

There is the anti-cycling part of York's community you're probably welcome in... AP Cox, Sillybillies and Mike Usherwood will give you a welcome pack which includes a free cookie, a lapel badge, and a handbook of all the anti-cycling cliché's and insults you can shout out at cyclists.
Meanwhile, it might be time for me to test drive my Baodecia handlebar attachments.... ;-)

I guess it's ok for someone on a bike to joke about using sharp instruments to damage cars, but not the other way around eh?
