£47k energy saving boost for Easingwold
9:15am Saturday 5th January 2013 in News
VILLAGES near York are to get £47,000 to help residents save money and energy.
The Renewable Heat Vouchers, available through a Government project, will allow people in 20 villages around Easingwold who are not on a mains gas supply to fit wood boilers, heat pumps or solar hot-water heating. The scheme will be operated locally by Hambleton District Council and Yorkshire Energy Partnership and is also designed to reduce carbon emissions.
Villages eligible include Alne, Crayke, Flaxby, Helperby, Huby, Linton-on-Ouse, Sessay, Sutton-on-the-Forest, Tholthorpe and Tollerton, as well as Easingwold itself.
Sophie Smith, Yorkshire Energy Partnership’s renewables co-ordinator, said: “This will help householders significantly reduce their fuel bills and their environmental impact.”
