Dumped camper van involved in crash with tanker and coach
2:52pm Wednesday 2nd January 2013 in News
A MILK tanker, coach and a stolen camper van were involved in a crash in North Yorkshire today.
The accident happened just before 6am and blocked the A171 between Whitby and Guisborough at Scaling Dam.
A National Express coach driver was trapped and rescued unhurt from his vehicle by firefighters, said police. The coach, heading towards Whitby, was not carrying any passengers.
The milk tanker driver, heading the other way, suffered a facial injury but was not believed to be badly hurt.
A stolen, empty, VW camper van dumped by the side of the road was also involved, police said.
A force spokesman would not be drawn on whether the camper van was in a dangerous spot, causing the collision.
The road has now been reopened.
Anyone who saw the camper van being abandoned is asked to phone Whitby police on 101.
