Selby drink-driver Michael Carter banned for 18 months
6:04pm Friday 28th December 2012 in News
A SELBY drink-driver was caught because CCTV operators tipped off police, York magistrates heard.
Michael Alan Carter was nearly twice the drink-drive limit when he pulled into a car park off Finkle Street, Selby, said Sandra White, prosecuting.
Magistrates banned him from driving for 18 months and ordered him to pay £215 including a £110 fine, a £20 victim surcharge, and £85 prosecution costs.
Offshore rigger Carter, 29, of Newland, Selby, pleaded guilty to drink-driving.
Mrs White said Carter drove on to Finkle Street late on December 14, parked and went into a pub, watched by CCTV operators. He returned a short time later and drove off.
Concerned he had been drinking, CCTV operators told two on-duty police officers.
Carter had 67 millilitres of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 millilitres.
