Organisers of Kaboom promise bigger event next year
8:41am Thursday 27th December 2012 in News
ORGANISERS of a York fireworks show have promised next year’s event will be bigger than before and are planning to set up a “sparkler park”.
The Kaboom 2012 display was held at Rawcliffe Country Park in November, with thousands of people attending, and although the team behind it have admitted it was “far from perfect” and issues needed to be addressed, they were now looking to next year.
The 2013 event is provisionally earmarked for November 3 and, in an email to those who attended this year, Kaboom said they were considering including a junior firework show and a cordoned-off area specifically for use of sparklers, as well as possibly adding a bonfire if agreement can be reached with City of York Council that it can be held safely and without smoke causing problems on nearby roads.
The firm said poor weather conditions meant the park had “suffered” and Kaboom was now working with the council to “reinstate it to its former glory”, although the ground will have to dry out first and work is unlikely until spring. The organisers apologised to anybody handed out-of-date McDonald’s vouchers at the event – with new and valid vouchers having been sent to those who attended – and have asked for feedback on suggestions that the fairground for the event should be held in the site’s car park, closer to catering facilities."

Leave it to the professionals at York Maze, seemingly the only people in York who can manage an event properly, run it on time, not cause damage to public property, and still owe people money afterwards (usually the incompetents at the council)!
Kaboom was actually held 'in York' and our display was over 20 minutes long, what's more, it included entertainment from chart star Marcus Collins and despite being far superior, tickets were a lot cheaper than other events.
The Maze put on a good event but only 3500 can attend that event so it is hardly a major player; there are several 'community' events that have bigger attendances. Kaboom has the potential to accommodate a lot more people than any other event locally.
Kaboom was also the only event that had a green transport policy with a free shuttle bus service running from town and discounted tickets for those close enough to walk in.

so the same people are being allowed to run it again.what about the knavesmire fiasco.
I delivered on a promise to bring fireworks back to York and I committed to a four year agreement on Rawcliffe Country Park.
Unlike certain other events I could mention, we did not have any health and safety breaches, nor did we require the assistance of the police to control our safety zones.
We had just 8 complaints from people who got too cold to wait for the fireworks and 10 complaints from nearby residents about the noise from our stage. On the other hand, judging by the massive amount of positive feedback we have received, Kaboom's fireworks were very clearly the best fireworks anybody had ever witnessed in York.
Seeing is believing, check out the coverage on You Tube and compare our James Bond themed display to the others.

Mark, more fireworks less d list celebs, drop the radio presenter who "slavered" anything in trousers and get rid of the "actors" from the Dungeons who thought they were"Monty Python" and we'll be there again.
