A YORK shopping centre has seen its plans for a new car wash that would have created four jobs turned down.

Bosses at York Designer Outlet wanted to use three parking spaces at the Naburn shopping park for the “waterless” car wash which would have operated during the centre's opening hours.

However, the proposals have been rejected by City of York Council after planning officers said it would be “inappropriate development” in the Green Belt and the canopy which would have formed part of the car wash would set an “unprecedented precedent” for other schemes.
