POLICE have appealed for help to trace a York man who has disappeared as they launch their second missing persons investigation in the city in a matter of days.

Duncan McKeith, 39, of Cygnet Street, was last seen on George Hudson Street in the city centre at about 2.20pm on Friday afternoon and North Yorkshire Police say they are "increasingly concerned" for his safety,

The force believes Mr McKeith has family in the Sunderland area and may have travelled to the north-east. He is white, 5ft 10in tall, with a medium build, black hair and hazel eyes.

PC Richard O'Connell of York Police said: "Mr McKeith has not been seen for more than 24 hours now and could well have spent the night out in the open in the current adverse weather conditions.

"It is important that we establish where Mr McKeith is and his movements over the past couple of days. I am urging anybody who has information which could help us to get in touch as soon as possible.

"I would also like to appeal directly to Mr McKeith to contact the police and let us know he is OK."

Anybody with information about Mr McKeith's whereabouts should phone North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option one and speak to the force control room.

The force is also currently searching for another York man, 29-year-old Chris Baker, of Albermarle Road in South Bank, who has not been seen since about 7.15am on Thursday when he was seen running towards the River Ouse after abandoning his car in the city centre.
