York police are appealing for the public's help to trace a wanted man.

Michael Bennison, aged 28, is wanted on suspicion of committing a number of offences, including possession of drugs with intent to supply and assault.

Police believe that Bennison is still in the York area and have been making extensive enquiries in an effort to locate him.

Officers are now asking the public to help them with their search and are appealing to anyone who knows where Bennison is to get in touch.

Detective Inspector Shaun Page, of North Yorkshire Police, said: "Michael Bennison is wanted for a number of offences committed in York and has been evading police for a couple of weeks now.

"I am appealing to the public to keep their eyes peeled and let us know if they see him.

"If you do see him, don't approach him but call the police or Crimestoppers as soon as possible."

Anyone who can help officers to locate Michael Bennison, should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 - select option 1 - and pass information to the Force Control Room.
