TIME is running out for readers wanting to donate items for The Press’s annual Toys & Tins Appeal and the Monks Cross Give a Gift Appeal.

We have teamed up with the shopping centre this Christmas in a bid to spread some festive cheer among York’s needy.

We are asking people to donate unwanted toys to help the York’s Women’s Aid Refuge, where mothers and their children go to escape from domestic abuse, and also York Carers Centre, an independent body that supports carers who look after relatives, friends or neighbours who are ill, frail, disabled or in need of emotional support.

We are also appealing for tins and other foods to go to the Salvation Army for its Christmas food parcels for the homeless and others in need.

Please bring items either to The Press’s reception in Walmgate between 9am and 5pm on Monday or Tuesday, or to the Monks Cross Information Centre, next door to BHS.
