Three men appear in court following police chase

THREE men have appeared in court following a police chase through York.

The pursuit took place following suspected burglaries in Heslington Road in the early hours of Sunday morning and continued along Thief Lane, Lilac Avenue, Tang Hall Lane, Melrosegate and into Constantine Avenue, police said.

Anthony Vipas, 29, of Beaconsfield Street, York, appeared in court charged with two burglaries and aggravated vehicle taking, and has been remanded in custody to again appear at York Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

Foster Allan, 24, of Thief Lane, York, faced the same charges. Jason Christopher Stewart, 28, of Burton Green, York, has been charged with two burglaries, possessing a controlled drug and aggravated vehicle taking.

Allan and Stewart have been remanded in custody to appear again on December 18.
