POLICE have urged the public to be vigilant for a man wanted for breaking the terms of his prison release.

Jonathan Bennett, 20, has known connections in the Harrogate area, and was jailed for two years and eight months in December 2010 for burglary offences in North Yorkshire.

He was released from prison on March 27 on licence, but has since breached that licence and has been recalled to prison following alleged further offending. He has also failed to comply with bail conditions imposed following his arrest on suspicion of a burglary at a shop in Harrogate last month.

Both North Yorkshire and West Yorkshire Police have carried out extensive enquiries to locate Bennett, whose last known address was Regent’s Court in Horsforth, Leeds.

Detective Inspector Maria Taylor of Harrogate CID said: “Bennett knows the conditions of his licence and knows that breaching it will land him back in back in prison, he should do the right thing by facing up to his actions and hand himself in.

“Members of the public are asked to assist by keeping an eye out for him and to report any sightings. If anyone knows of his whereabouts or recognises him from the photograph, please contact the police as a matter of urgency.”

Anyone with information should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111, quoting reference 12120205354.
