Selby homes under attack by airgun yobs
9:29am Thursday 6th December 2012 in News
By Dan Bean, dan.bean@thepress.co.uk
Vandals have been condemned for firing air rifles at houses in Selby.
Police have warned that although no one was injured, the actions could have done serious harm.
A house in Bondgate and another in Wistow Road have both been targeted three times each over the last 12 months, and the culprits have not been caught.
The shootings have all taken place during daylight hours. The most recent happened just after 4pm on November 29 at the Bondgate house, while shots were fired at the Wistow Road house 45 minutes later.
Earlier incidents took place on September 10 and June 13 at Wistow Road, and on May 18 and January 14, 2011, at the Bondgate property.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said that although nobody had been injured, windows at the properties had been damaged, and there was potential for harm.
He said: “These were clearly acts of absolute stupidity. Firing any weapons at people’s homes could have dire consequences.
“Even if the air rifle pellet itself does not cause injury, shards of flying glass may hit people.
“If you know who is responsible for these mindless acts you should contact the police or Crimestoppers immediately.”
Anyone with information on the incidents, or who saw anything suspicious in the areas on the above dates, should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111..

The law makes no distinction between air rifles and more powerful guns for which you need a licence – they are all classed as firearms. This means that any offence committed can carry a very heavy penalty!

I'm not Poroit, but the neither are the Detective's from Selby police, look to the right of the two streets mentioned, there are fields and grass areas, rather than aiming at the two properties someone about as inexperienced with trajectory as a typical Police firearms officer will have been practising with an air rifle from time to time, firing at an elevated target without a back stop or into trees from over 200 metres away, to fire directly you'd have to be stood in the middle of the field in full view of the houses.
Now cue troll like comments from Chissy1.............
..............!!!
As an aside, give people with little or no common sense, the ability to own and fire anything other than a toy catapult and then this is what happens. At least it's only windows that have been damaged in this story - in York and surrounding areas recently it's been cats and swans.

Why do people feel the need to comment when clearly clueless!

Still, you seem to know exactly what's happened here so hopefully I can assume you'll take more care with your air rifle practise in future? :)
