Greyhounds, whippets and lurchers dressed in Father Christmas hats set off from the Fulford Arms in York
FESTIVE four-legged friends took a Santathemed stroll to raise awareness of the plight of neglected ex-racing dogs.
Greyhounds, whippets and lurchers were dressed in Father Christmas hats and draped in tinsel as they set off en masse from the Fulford Arms for the monthly walk.
The event is intended to raise awareness of the urgent need to re-home the former racing dogs and to show what “wonderful companions” they make.
Tina Abbott and Jane Lund, the York walk’s joint organisers, said £175 was raised from a raffle draw and a dog-themed stocking filler sale after the walk.
The money will go to Greyhound Gap, which raises funds to re-home retired or unwanted racing hounds.
Each year the monthly walks raise money for a greyhound charity.
