CROWDS have been flocking to one of York’s biggest festive attractions, the St Nicholas Fayre.
The annual four-day event, which continues until Sunday, features more than 200 stalls, including ones selling gifts and crafts, and local food producers from the deliciouslyorkshire group.
Barbara Vincent, of York Brewery, said the log-style cabins added to the festive atmosphere. “I love doing it; it’s good for the city and great for business. I don’t mind the dressing up too.”
Chris Rymer, an artist from Harrogate, whose stall is in the Guildhall, said such events were important to small business owners and people who would not be able to afford a physical store.
Coun Sonja Crisp, City of York Council’s cabinet member for leisure, culture and tourism, said: “Most businesses in the city centre are unaffected by the recent flooding, and St Nicholas’ Fayre is going to be bigger and better than ever, so I really hope that the public don’t let the weather put them off enjoying York’s festive offering this winter.”
