A19 at Fulford re-opens as floodwaters recede
12:41pm Thursday 29th November 2012 in News
ONE of York’s key arterial roads has re-opened after floodwaters receded.
The A19 at Fulford closed earlier this week after being flooded by water from the swollen River Ouse and Germany Beck.
The closure forced motorists from Selby and the A64 to use other routes into and out of the city, in particular Hull Road, causing lengthy rush-hour delays.

Did you even bother looking to see how much of the Germany Beck development site was flooded?

How about building a wall at each side of the road so it doesn't happen again? Or raise the road? After all it is one of the main carriageways in/out of the city.

They are too busy waiting for Persimmon/Hogg to build it for them for free !

How many residents suddenly rediscovered the joys of cycling, ie quicker local travel at almost nil cost.

Dismally predictable future for luckless Germany Beck housebuyers!

Lets not forget, if they were to build the site at higher levels to prevent the "houses" flooding, this volume of water will just descend into areas it previously didn't reach, such as other homes.

The left lane alone failed to do that so to nanny after the crybabies in their audi's who didn't like sitting in a queue of cars filled with people who can't be bothered to cycle the council fiddled around with the traffic light timings at the cost of greater queues on the A19, a road of much greater importance than Water End.
