REHEARSALS for this year’s pantomime at York Theatre Royal have begun in earnest.
Robin Hood and his Merry Mam! will run from December 13 to February 2 and will see Robin Hood take on the task of saving the rightful heir to the throne from the evil Prince John and Sheriff Hutton of Nottingham, while also coping with the arrival of his mother.
A spokesman for the theatre said about 26,000 tickets have been sold, but availabilty is still good.
Pantomime dame Berwick Kaler said: “This year promises to be an exciting Christmas with three new pantomimes in the city of York. Competition is always healthy and I can’t wait to see what our rivals are up to. What I can promise is that York Theatre Royal will put on a brilliant production featuring a wonderful cast, at least 15 changes of scenery, some outrageous costumes, a bucket load of madness and mayhem.”
