MORE than 500 letters and emails have been sent to the Government over the decision to approve plans for a £1.4 billion waste incinerator.
North Yorkshire County Council gave the Allerton Waste Recovery Park, between York and Knaresborough, the go-ahead last month, but the Department for Communities and Local Government must now decide whether to stage a public inquiry over the scheme.
The plant is a joint initiative between the county council and City of York Council, who say it will hugely reduce their waste and landfill tax bills.
