THE poet known as The Bard Of Yorkshire visited a York bookshop to sign copies of his latest book.
Ian McMillan, who has also won fame as a TV and radio personality and whose Barnsley accent has lent a Tyke twang to his tales, greeted fans at the WH Smith branch in Coney Street yesterday.
He was joined by award-winning Private Eye cartoonist Tony Husband, as part of their promotional work for their new book Daft Yorkshire Fairy Tales.
The pair also popped in at White Rose Books in Thirsk to autograph copies of the book, which looks at classic fairytales and gives them a Yorkshire twist.
The book features a rewrite of Humpty Dumpty to the tune of On Ilkla Moor Baht ’At, Snow White And The Cantankerous Yorkshire Mirror, Goldilocks And The Three Yorkshire Bears and the Old Woman Who Lived In A Curd Tart.
