A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run accident in York that left two people badly injured.
The crash happened at the junction of James Street and Lawrence Street at 5.15pm on Friday, when a Volvo S80 hit a pedestrian and crashed into bollards outside the Tam O’Shanter pub. A black volkswagen Scirocco was also damaged.
As 50-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the Volkswagen, suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries. The pedestrian, a 28-year-old man, suffered a serious leg injury, believed to be a break. The Volvo driver fled on foot.
A man has been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of a collision, and released on bail. Any witnesses can phone police on 101.
